  • Third time around

    This is my third attempt at Atkins. The first time was 7-8 years and I quickly went from a tight 11 to a loose 4. I would say it took about 4 months, maybe less. I dont know what my weight was, as I dont believe in scales. My second attempt was about 10 months ago and I dont belive that I ever acheived ketosis. I stayed on the diet for over a month, eating no breads, sweets, etc, but I saw no results and I felt as though I looked heavier. I decided on Wednesday the 22 to start while I was at work. I had already had my breakfast which was a few gulps of Cran-Pomegranate juice but I began at lunch anyway. I feel as though I may be in ketosis this time. I am mildly lightheaded and I feel jumpy. I cant wait to get out of work to go burn some energy! I am going to pick up some Ketostix on my way home. Hopefully three is a charm!!!

    Hi Kefira, I'm day 11 induction after a couple of false starts in the past couple of years. A decade ago, I lost fifty pounds following Atkins. You are in a great place and will get loads of support. I'm glad you gave it another shot. I have been really happy with my eleven days. I hope that you are too. Get the 2002 version of the book and read the stickies. The folks on this board have done a tremendous amount of work to put the information out there. I look forward to hearing about your progress.

      Sounds good kefira.
      Hope things go well. Don't forget to review the rules and eat only from the allowed lists. Sometimes we tend to remember things wrongly
      And don't expect it to be quite the same as last time.
      Here is to a smaller size kefira!!!!

        Hi and welcome back kefira -- Here is a little information I hope will refresh your memory and help get you going again. To loose and keep the weight off follow the plan the way Dr. Atkins wrote it. The plan works if you follow it the way it is written and don’t try to do it “your way” – obviously “your way” doesn’t work or you wouldn’t be here!

        Check the STAC Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet for additional support. We also have challenges for members to join, some are exercise related and some aren’t. Also start a journal and post your thoughts along the way.

        Check the stickies (information posts) at the top of the induction page - http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/ – it’s an easy way to answer questions you may have if you can’t find your copy of the book.


        Stay away from the shakes and bars (they are NOT legal on induction because of their ingredients and have caused stalling to many people) - eat a variety of foods off the acceptable food list, (making sure you get your fats, carbs and protein in daily), drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), take supplements and exercise.

        Check the recipe sites also - they are very helpful and will help make your meals so much more enjoyable. Make sure you are using induction recipes until you move on to OWL (ongoing weight loss)

          Hi Kefira, if you were not in ketosis last time, you weren't doing Atkins properly. Do read the book and do your Induction cleanly if you want to see the best results.
