  • back again for the umpteenth time...

    Hello everyone!

Once again .. I am back! I'm surprised that I haven't been banned from this site yet. LOL! I think I've attempted the atkins approach AT LEAST 5 times. I keep falling off the wagon!

So, i'm gonna try this again .........

My mini goal is to lose 5 lbs by Friday July 31, 2009. I will set up my mini goal once my first one has been achieved.

    Wish me luck!

    Start weight: 195
    Mini Goal: 190

I am sure there are many here who have more starts and restarts than that. So you're in good company.
Do yourself a favour and stop putting time goals on your losses. It is just setting your up for failures. Pounds come off at an unpredictable rate sometimes and we have to go with the flow.
Good luck. I hope this is the time it will work out.

so, you're saying NOT to have a goal? I'm lost. lol! I thought part of accomplishing something included having a goal.

I figured I try to set up "mini" goals and start with that. Taking baby steps this time around.

Goals are GOOD. Especially the mini ones
What I meant was - put a time on them
I will lose this much by August 1st - is not really the best thing to do.
But I am all for goals

Yep, I have never once met a time based goal no matter how modest it is. I seem to come close, but no meeting it when I hoped is always depressing. Just make the goal "Lose five pounds" without the deadline. Then there is less frustration!

sweetleilani~ Welcome I'm joining the club (AGAIN). I've done this several times. Each time with great success.. for some reason I have difficulty sticking to it long term. You and I have similiar starting weights and goal weights. I hope you find success. Good Luck!

Re: back again for the umpteenth time...

Hi and welcome back -- Here is a little information I hope will refresh your memory and help get you going again. To loose and keep the weight off follow the plan the way Dr. Atkins wrote it. The plan works if you follow it the way it is written and don’t try to do it “your way”. Hopefully this time around you'll find this is a way of life not a way to loose weight quick then quit. I agree about putting a date on every mini goal -- the best of intentions can cause the most pain when you, for some reason, don't hit a personal date....instead put a 5 pound weight loss as your mini goal and when it comes be happy -- regardless of how many "days" it took.

Check the STAC Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet for additional support. We also have challenges for members to join, some are exercise related and some aren’t. Also start a journal and post your thoughts along the way.

Check the stickies (information posts) at the top of the induction page - http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/ – it’s an easy way to answer questions you may have if you can’t find your copy of the book.

Stay away from the shakes and bars (they are NOT legal on induction because of their ingredients and have caused stalling to many people) - eat a variety of foods off the acceptable food list, (making sure you get your fats, carbs and protein in daily), drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), take supplements and exercise.

Check the recipe sites also - they are very helpful and will help make your meals so much more enjoyable. Make sure you are using induction recipes until you move on to OWL (ongoing weight loss)
