  • Hello to all!

I'm so glad to have found this site. Reading the various posts are such a help and inspiration to me. Anyway, I am from Texas, in my late fifties and have been doing Atkins for a little over three months. I've lost over thitry pounds and began this diet for health reasons. I can't say that losing the weight and inches isn't pleasant, too--it is!

I am retired and enjoy traveling, going for walks and drives, my five dogs, reading all sorts of books, and working in my yard. Right now it is so hot here in San Antonio, that I don't get outside a whole lot, or for very long at a time My biggest goal is to do more exercise to tone up muscles--especially the abs so that my lower back will get more support. Also, starting a new yoga class soon will help with being supple. I look forward to reading of and learning from all of you. Good luck to everyone and hang in there--this way of eating and living really works!

    Re: Hello to all!

Wow! You're doing so good! Congrats for the 30 lbs lost.

Yoga is awesome and very addictive. I love exercising outside now that the weather is nice in the morning (and I have a yard where I've just moved!). Yoga... barefoot on grass... perfect start for the day!

Sounds like you have some healthy goals there, besides weight loss. Good for you!

        Re: Hello to all!

Thank you both for your kind thoughts. It isn't always easy when in stressful situations not to long for the comfort of carbs, but thankfully, waiting a little and thinking it trough has helped as has reading the posts on this site. I'm waiting for the yoga teacher to return from vacation and then will start up with her later in August.

            Re: Hello to all!

Thank you! I consider myself a reforming "caboholic" and have really had to force myself to join groups such as this. It helps in staying on track and asking questions as well as finding answers in other people's posts. My initial incentive was to show my physician that BP, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels could come down with this diet and the supplements that Dr. Atkins advises. Will she him in August and see what the results are. My physician actually suggested this diet a one of his nurses went on it and did really well. She looks great. Thank you for your kind thoughts. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend adn Sunday. Mary
