This is my first time trying a low carb diet. I'm a vegetarian and also Italian so I never thought I could mentally prepare myself for this. I was originally 198 lbs at 5'10" and got down to 145 lbs in a year through exercising daily and lots of vegetables. In the last 4 years, I let the scale climb up to 165 lbs, due to work and stress, without really committing to loosing the weight. I dieted here and there, but no real commitment. January of this year, I got a personal trainer and have worked out with her Monday - Friday since then. I've lost body fat, but the scale has not moved. So, last Sunday I did it...I commited to Induction. I committed to a different way of thinking all together which goes against my vegetarian lifestyle and my Italian heritage. I'm still a vegetarian, but eating lettuce in a normal thing for me. I've lost 5 lbs in the first week. Fruit has been the hardest to give up, but I found an Italian basil dressing which is helping curve this sweet tooth (1 carb per 2 tbsp). I've found my energy level has increased, I'm not groggy when I wake up, and I can focus.
My only problem...wine. I know it is prohibited until a certain point in the OWL stage. If I could just make it to that point in the OWL. I only drink a glass occasionally with my girlfriends, but I know it's suicide to my current weight loss.
To those of you dealing with "cravings" I wish you the best of luck! We can do this!
