  • Hello...........A quick hello!! I am new!

    Hello,

I am actually starting this diet on Sunday. I have a wedding to attend saturday, with a sit down meal and drinks, I thought it was best to play safe and wait till Sunday.

I am currently 5ft9 201 Lbs. That gives me a unhealthy BMI of 29.7
I am going travelling (backpacking) in 10weeks. I know this diet is a lifestyle change and something that is long term, however I wasnt to do it for 10weeks. Give me a kick start in the right direction and if I decide it is something I can continue on my travels then I will do this.

Anyway in 10 weeks I hope to loose a minimum of 2lbs a week. Which would mean I would be leaving The UK in October at 181lbs BMI 26.7.
Which is still unhealthy but I just want a kick start and I hope this will bring out lots of confidence and make me feel better about meeting other people.

Anyway I have lots of free time between now and then, lots of time to excersise. Maybe I could even bring that BMI down to 25 in 10 weeks. Which would be a 3lb loss per week, I'd have to excersise super hard.

I am trying to focus less on the numbers and more on how I look but I just want to be healthy.

Anyway wish me look, I am going to organise myself before then and re read parts of the books.

    Thank you for reading

    Hi and welcome to ADBB.

A little information to help get you started. The reference we use is the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR). The stickies at the top of the Induction area are a good start they don’t detail the entire program http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html - it’s best to have the book so you know how to follow the program the correct way. Hopefully you will feel the full effect of Atkins and want to continue after your initial 10 weeks. As you stated this is a lifestyle change not a quick in and out to loose a few pounds for a special occassion.

If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list it doesn’t belong in your mouth – no exceptions! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html. Look at the ingredients list on everything you eat - check it against the acceptable food list -- just because the label says "low carb" doesn't mean it is Atkins legal. Check the ingredients for hidden sugars. The Atkins shakes and bars (as well as other brand names of these products) are not legal on induction – there are non-induction ingredients in them and they are not listed on the acceptable food list).

Recipe Sitesmake sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

*take your measurements and get on the scale so you have accurate numbers to start with - don't weigh again until the end of your 2 week induction.
*Drink 64 ounces of pure water -nothing added daily (Legal water is considered Filtered water, Mineral water, Spring water and Tap water).
*Eat a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables. Also make sure you get your fats, carbs and protein in daily – www.fitday.com will help you keep track of this.
    *Take your supplements and
*do some form of exercise daily – whatever you like and are comfortable doing.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! The moderators are excellent sources of anything and everything Atkins and they enjoy helping everyone. Good luck to you!

      I love London

Anyhoo, all the best with your travels and your new way of eating.

I think as far as the special circumstances go, the way I look at is that you will always be encountering situations that will challenge your way of eating and you will have to adapt and work it out the best way that you can. Sure, you can plan ahead but I am sure there will be times when you can't and you will have to make choices. If it were me I would be starting right away, but its not me its you lol. Just thought I would throw some food for thought out there.

      You will do this!

          Thanks for the advice guys!!!
          It is a great help.

And I know I should start right now today, Its just I know that on day 3 if someone throws a set meal, all carb high. I will not have the willpower. So I want to start on the Sunday so that I have no situations like that.

          Looking forward to it now

            Hi,
Welcome to the ADBB! Its great that you found this board as it has been a great help to me on my weight loss journey. I think its a good idea starting after the wedding, i recently fell off of plan at a wedding with a set meal, but mananged to get straight back on track the next day. You will want to get a clean induction under your belt, plus by day 3 you should be going into ketosis (fat burning mode) so you would not to ruin it before you even started it! (if u know what i mean)
Anyway, I wish you good luck and look forward to reading about your progress on the board

Not a bad plan. Your defenses are weakest during those first few days. Also, the longer you have been in this WOE the better able you are to deal with occasions since you have indoctrinated this WOE into your thinking. No explanations needed.
