  • trying this again

    Hi,
well about a year ago i tried Atkins..... lost about 16 pounds and then resorting back to my old carbohydrate filled foods.
i gained 10 lbs back .... resulting in the numbers on the scale to read 170.
not the weight i desire to be.
after struggling with my wardrobe & not being happy with the image in the mirror, i decided it was time to begin again.

so, on Monday, July 20th 2009 my second journey with atkins began. only this time i'm adding exercise. at least 4 days a week.

i get on the bike for 20 min. then run in place for 10 min. then dance around for another 10 to 15 min.. depending on the song i have playing on the ipod. i also bought ankle weights to wear at the office.
when i can afford the tools, i plan on implimating a little more. but for now i'm working with what i got!!!
i've read your supposed to do mild exercise when on atkins... is this too much or not enough?

also i refuse to get on the scale on a daily basis, as a watched pot never boils.
what is a good # to hop on that bad boy? once a week? once every 2 weeks? once a month?

i weighed in after my first week at 167. expected to have lost a little more... but i had a problem surrendering my nightly glass of wine. would that have been a factor?

this time around i am definatlly in it to win it. my goal is to reach 130.
any answers & advice would be greatly appreciated.

You will have trouble losing weight if you drink everyday, no matter what rung you are on. Your body will use the alcohol as fuel first. Once all of the alcohol is burned up, then it will start burning fat.

Just be careful with the ankle weights. They can strain you and develop muscles in the wrong places so you may want to rethink that one. I would also suggest light weight training. You can use vegetable cans or buy a resistance band if you are on a tight budget. I can get a really good workout with a band.

I agree you need to lose the wine temporarily. Also are you eating your 3 cups of veggies and drinking lots of water? Both help spur my weight losses.

          GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
          FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

            Jill,

Yes... eating those veggies for sure.. i've always preferred veggies to fruit, which made part of the food transition easier.
And yes, drinking lots of water.

do you think maybe once a week with the ankle weights would be too much.
and have printed out a few light weight training exercises i'm anxious to try. will be getting some 3 or 5 pound weights today.

            Thank you for your response.
