  • Hi Everyone

Hello Everyone, My name is Martin and im 27 years old. I am very new to this Atkins diet, I have heard wonderful things about it in the past, but I have always been a bit skeptical. So far since starting my current job (stuck in an office) I have managed to put on 3 stone in a year. After trying low fat, low cal diets and not seeing any results I decided to bite the bullet and give Atkins a go.
So far so good, i have been on the diet 3 days, and have lost (according to the scales in the gym) 3 pounds. I couldnt believe it. The only thing I am struggling with is Breakfast. In my office we are not allowed to eat hot food. Does anyone have any ideas for a small breakfast that I can have cold (other than the usualy ham and chicken etc).

I look forward to speaking to many of you soon. And also see how everyone is progressing with their weight loss.

    Good luck all

    Welcome Martin.
Glad things are going well. Just follow the rules and things will start moving.
Cold breakfast? Egg salad that you prepare in advance? A crustless quiche , if you would like that cold. I do Some roll-ups? An egg cream made at home and transported in a big cup with straw.

      Hi and welcome to ADBB.

At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condenced version of the book we use -
      http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/5781-before-you-begin-atkins-nutritional-approach.html.

If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Make a copy of the the list and take it with you everywhere. Make sure you don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. We count "net carbs" not whole carbs (carb minus fiber = net carbs).

The recipe sites are a helpful meal planning tool – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. As far as a cold breakfast I love the mock danish recipe you'll find in the never ending recipe thread....it's delicious hot or cold!!

          Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your ideas, I had the ham and egg roll ups today, which were lovely. I will definately keep those for the duration of the induction.

Also, does anyone know the best form of exercise to do whilst on the induction phase? I joined the gym yesterday and today will be my first session, and was wondering whether cardio or weights would be best. I would appreciate your help, as I am going for this full steam ahead lol.

          Cheers Guys

            Re: Hi Everyone

A combination is best. You will need both. Don't push yourself. During the early phase of induction energy levels may be down as you readjust to ketosis.

I agree, I would start slow and easy so you don't get hurt. Try various things out to find out what you like and will stay with for the duration. As Liv says a combination of strength training and cardio is the best for the long term. For now just have fun and start to get active. Don't push it in these first two week. It should be a finding out what you enjoy phase, not a killing yourself to get fast results phase.

I like boiling eggs and I take 1 or 2 with me if I'm in a hurry in the morning and can't eat breakfast at home.
