  • Ahoy there :)

Hi all, my name is Drew, I started the Atkins diet on Monday, so I am on day 4 now, and I must say I am really enjoying the life change. Since Monday I've lost 8lb and It's been really easy. I know it was probably water but I am amazed I've stuck it out till day 4.

Yesterday I had the headaches and the death breath which im glad to say the headaches have subsided. I'll post my stats in my sig and will add a ticker so if you are interested you can follow my progress.

    Thanks all.

Hey, I've been eating lots of whole meats. Made bacon burgers last night for dinner just using lean mince and smoked bacon, they were great. I've also ditched coffee and diet drinks. I've been snacking on pork rinds when im peckish. Funny thing is I dont feel hungry. I need to force myself to eat.

          Hi and welcome to ADBB.

We follow the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) it would be a helpful for you to have a copy of the book to refer to. At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book -
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/spotlight-introduce-yourself/60133-if-you-new-read.html. Good for you for getting started and also loosing a few pounds this far.

Make a copy of this list: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Make sure you don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars in the ingredients list (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”). We count "net carbs" (carb minus fiber = net carbs) – you can keep track of your daily food on FitDay or another program.

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

Hi! Sounds like you are off to a terrific start. Make sure you eat your 3 cups of veggies, Drew. They provide vital nutrients and fiber. Also, if you start to do strength training you may want to adjust your goal as you get closer. Muscle weighs more than fat so at 170 you may look like a bean pole (My son is your height and 180 was a better fit for his physique when he works out regularly)

              GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
              FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.
