Hello all
, I've been looking at the forum for a while and taken in as much info as I can, I was once very sceptical about Atkins because it went against the grain of much of what I (thought) I knew about nutrition. Then I saw this ( Why we gain weight: Adiposity 101 and the Alternative Hypothesis of Obesity ) short film of a lecture by Gary Taubes, you may have heard of him, once I saw this I thought that 'that Atkins guy may have been right after all'. This film made me re-evaluate my understanding of nutrition and I read Dr Atkins book...then I felt I didnt have an option except to test this for myself. I needed to loose quite a bit of weight and I had done quite well by simply reducing fat and increasing exercise but my rate of loss slowed down after a couple of months.
I am now at the end of the fourth day of induction. I have felt very tired and I have had a mild but persistent headache for the first three days. This might be caffeine withdrawal. I am following the diet very strictly and I was a bit worried when I did not get a positive ketosis result at the end of day three. I wondered if I had not eaten enough fat, I had certainly not eaten any carbs. Thankfully I tested positive this afternoon and I am looking forward to seeing how I feel over the next few days, the headache seems to be subsiding now, and I feel a bit more energetic. The advice and support offered on thsi forum has been encouraging even when viewed as an unregistered member.
