  • time to say goodbye to the excess weight

    Hi everyone

My name is Linda and I live in the UK. I am 50 years old and have been overweight since childhood! I have been on every diet going including Atkins, and never succeeded in keeping the weight I lost off. I must have lost my body weight 10 times over, but have never been heavier than I am now! I need lots of support and when I came across this forum it was nice to see all the support you all give everyone.

Atkins was the only diet that I never felt hungry on, but I was doing it alone. None of my family have a weight problem. I don't know how much I weigh now as I threw out my scales as recommended by some "diet guru". But as all my life has been dominated by getting on scales and at least being able to control my weight, albeit at a high level, now is the time to buy some more and face the truth yet again.

I'm going to buy some scales later today and start the induction phase of Atkins tomorrow. Will confirm this to you all tomorrow......

Re: time to say goodbye to the excess weight

Hi and welcome back Linda –

Don’t compare what you lost or how you did “the last time” your body and lifestyle isn’t the same as last time – follow the plan the way it is written, exercise, drink plenty of pure water (64 ounces minimum daily – nothing added) and you’ll be on your way to loosing before you know it. When you get your new scales join the "scale free" challenge and don't get on until after induction. Also take your measurements to begin with so you'll know where you started, and if you have a lag in weight loss you'll see the inches are still coming off.

Check the STAC Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet for additional support. Check the stickies at the top of the induction forum to refresh your memory on the plan. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/5781-before-you-begin-atkins-nutritional-approach.html.

The recipe sites are a helpful meal planning tool – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.
