    i am drinking decaf coffee. i am 41 with a 3 year old and a 7 year old. we go for daily walks most days. i am on no medication, i do not take a multi vitamin. and i was on and off doing the cambridge diet so i may have messed up my metobolic rate. do i need to eat more fatty meat do you think?

      Hi lucki. I am fairly new too. I think a lot of us have messed up metabolisms from wrong diets and/or yo yo dieting. From what I understand in the DANDR 2002 book, Dr. Atkins' recommendations for diet and supplements serve to correct this. It won't happen overnight though.

      What I noticed in your menus (besides not enough veggies of the right types/portions) is that your meats are mainly smoked or processed. Have you checked to see if these are sugar and nitrite/nitrate free? I buy uncured bacon that doesn't contain these ingredients and it seems to be lower in sodium too. Still, I only have it once or twice a week.

      Maybe try replacing the ham, bacon, smoked salmon, etc. with fresh beef, pork, poultry and fish/seafood? That should make a big difference and is healthier for you too. After that, maybe cut down or eliminate cheese for a bit to see if that helps too.

      Please don't be devastated. Sometimes it takes a while to figure out the right combination of foods to kick the body into losing mode.

        thankyou very much for your reply, i am determined to loose weight so will keep on trying but i am really stressed out about it. i have been yoyo dieting and am thinking, that could be why i havent been loosing weight altough i have also not put any on. also not eating the right type of food. anyway thanks again.
