  • Hi there!

    Hello everyboy!
i'm new here, I'm doing Atkins for 8 days now and i have already lost 4kg! I feel so good and I love the fact I'm never feeling hungry, even though I'm actually eating way less then before!! I read the book over and over and i NEVER get out of the house without it!! ;-)
I thought i could lose some more Kg if i stopped drinking my morning coffee, but this is a pleasure I can't really give up!

I do have a question: Dr. Atkins says that "exercise is non- negotiable", does walking 2km in 20 mins, twice a day, count as exercise?

Have a nice day you all!

    Re: Hi there!

    Hi and welcome --

Congratulations on loosing 4kg already! Yes, getting out and walking twice a day IS considered exercise and it's the exercise many here do.

If you switch to decaf coffee you may do better. Caffeine makes your blood sugar go up which can cause cravings so if you only drink a cup a day, make it decaf!!!

Make sure you are only eating foods on the acceptable food list, you aren't using the shakes and bars, you are drinking plenty of water (minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily - I converted it to kg and it comes out to 1.81436948kg).

If you need anything let us know!

Thanks for your answers and support!
I actually walk 20 mins, twice a day...i walk all the way to work which is 2km from my house save me the money for the bus!! ;-)
Vienna is a nice city but it's full of temptations (cakes and the many traditional coffee houses..). But on the other hand, it offers many nice places you can walk to!

          Re: Hi there!

My daughter was just in Vienna for the Summa cum Laude youth music festival. I told here to eat some cake when she went there. She thought I was crazy. But that is one of the things I did.
Lots of nice meats and cheeses too I bet. How is it going today

              Re: Hi there!

Hi! Thanks again for ur support and interest! this makes losing weight a lot easier!!
Last week end i went to Italy, my father turned 60 and it was a lot going on! Since my mother is diabetic, was not hard to eat the right things. It was VERY hard to say no to ALL the sweets and cakes, not because i was "craving" sugar, but because it was a sort of "social eating". but i was strong and i passed every time, till the birthday ice cream cake.
I checked the ingredient and it was mostly milk and cream and sugar was at the bottom of the list. it had some chocolate pieces on top and some sponge-cake base. It was my father birthday, i do not see my family that often and it is sort of a big deal refusing food in Italy..so i had some of the cream.
It was really little, but i am not sure i want to cheat again, even though i didn't gain any weight. Almost immediately i felt my head spinning and a sense of nausea came up. I felt sort of dizzy. During the day i was very careful not to eat carbohydrates, chose the vegetables very carefully, i had like 5g till that evening.
Did it happen to any of you before?
To sum it up, i am done with my 2 weeks induction, but i will do another week, because of the cake accident..and also because i really can't go to the toilet elsewhere then my own toilet..i'm weird, i know..so it was like 3 days i kept everything inside...
Today weight was 60 (132), just like on Friday.
i lost 5 kg (11pounds) in the first 2 weeks, 8 kg(17pounds) to go. seems i lost a bit little..
              I'll keep you posted!

                Re: Hi there!

p.s maybe i should also consider that i have an hormonal disorder: polycystic ovary syndrome. in 2005 my hormones got crazy and i gained 10 kilos in 2 months. i stopped gaining when i started with the pill (high in estrogens). then i stopped in 2007, i gained some more, then i started again and i stopped gaining. over 1 year im taking it now and finally i'm losing some of the weight i gained 4 years ago!!
