  • Now I know...

I started low carbing Tuesday July 28th, I started at 360lbs. After one week I dropped 12lbs from 360 to 348. Unfortunately, I didn't follow the induction properly. After my weigh in, I celebrated by eating some of the things that got me where I am... Needing to lose weight. After my cheat meal I got back in the game. The next three days I did good. On that Friday 10 days after starting, I had lost an additional two pounds. That night I decided to eat what I wanted to eat. That lasted From Friday to Monday. Tuesday I got back in the game. I am new to this site and have learned a lot about the rules of induction. I am committed to the next 13 days, I am looking foward to seeing results. I am committed to doing this the right way, no more cheating!

    Welcome to the board, Smaye230!!

Lots of us have gotten off to rocky starts but in the end we realize that we are only hurting ourselves by letting food control us. Keep in mind that you need to keep your blood sugar levels from spiking which happens when you eat things you shouldn't.

Learn to keep legal snacks handy so you can keep your cravings away and once you get the knack of that, it will get easier.

    Good luck to you!!!

Good Morning Smaye, None of us developed bad habits overnight and it is not easy to overcome them. You have a great attitude; you recognized your lapse, owned it, learned from it and got back on the positive track. That is the mark of a successful person.

I wish you ther very best of luck and a warm welcome.

Thanks, I appreciate all of the support. It's good to know that you are not alone in "the struggle." I'm glad that there are people that I can lean on for support, for help or just someone to hear my frustrations... I hope you all have a great day.

We have all been there and we all have times when we get off track. Recognizing that this is a permanent lifestyle change and not a bus you can hop on and off is a big step. I am pulling for a clean two weeks for you.

              Re: Now I know...

Smaye 230 ~ I was a Type II Diabetic until May 09' & I seem to crave sweets at night, what I have found works best is to go the other way.

These Snacks are Induction Friendly & I still use them now during OWL when a crave a lil something later on at night or between meals!!!

I have listed for you below some of my fav's that are very low in net carbs!!!

2 Baby Kosher Dill Pickles = .42 net carbs

6 sml Stuffed Green Olives = .18 net carbs

1 Large Hard Boiled Egg = .39 net carbs

1oz Natural Cheddar Cheese = .40 net carbs

1oz Whole Milk Mozzarella Cheese = .62 net carbs

Use a sml Flat Glass Dish, 1oz Shredded Natural Cheddar Cheese on botton,1/2 to 1 tablespoon Real Bacon Bits on top & microwave for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, let completely cool & then loosen with a fork, break or cut into smaller pieces & you have a cruncky snack=.5net carbs.

I use a Coated Paper Plate & cover the Bottom with Plain Pork Rinds, then sprinkle 2oz Shredded Natural
Cheddar Cheese on top , then 1 to 2 tablespoons Real Bacon Bits on top of that, microwave 1 to 1 1/2 minutes
              & enjoy=1 net carb

Note : Shredded Whole Milk Mozzarella Cheese may be used in place of the Shredded Natural Cheddar Cheese
in either of the 2 above recipes!!!

All 7 are very low in net carbs & at night Iam usually low or out of carbs. If I go over Its only by a tiny bit & my
mouth is very happy!!! Also all 7 seem to make me crave to drink extra water so its a win~win all the way!!!

                  Re: Now I know...

Another tip I found useful from others on this board was to plan non-food rewards. Instead of indulging in cheat foods after a good loss, buy yourself a new CD, plan a movie night with friends, etc.

                  Good luck on your journey!
