  • ive finally jumped on the wagon!

Hello all! Im new to the Atkins Lifestyle! Tomorrow i'm picking up the book or ordering it from amazon(wherever I can find it cheaper). And im starting the induction phase tomorrow. I've already been slowly decreasing my carb intake as I have been studying up and reasearching the atkins diet. Ive lost two pounds so far! I was very very very scared at first because I thought I might die but atkins isnt what I thought it was at all. So I am excited and fired up and im ready for the challenge! I'll be doing the two week induction and then going on an extended induction phase. I know atkins will give me all the results ive been looking for. Ive gone from starving myself, throwing up my food to get the results I wanted, I tried all kinds of other diets and eating "balanced" and nothing worked for me at all. Ive got family and friends rooting for me and this forum of course to help me along the way.

age" 21 height:5'5 current weight:225 and my goal weight:135 I'll be happy to just get out the plus sizes...toned size 9 here I come! After that its smooth sailin and i know I can make it to my goal weight eventually.

Re: ive finally jumped on the wagon!

Hi and welcome to ADBB mocha.

I'm glad you are ordering the book -- I hope you got the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) - that's the one we follow here. At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book - http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html to help get you started until your book arrives. Its sad that you thought you might die following Atkins but you were willing to try it anyway -- you won't believe the wonderful food you will be eating from here on out.

Make a copy of this list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.
