  • Been a lurker...

    Been a bit of a lurker on this forum but just joined. Pretty inspiring seeing all the successes of this diet. I'm on day 4 of Induction and its going great so far. The only thing I refuse to give up is coffee but I don't mind it black with Xylitol. My current weight is 146 lb & my goal is 129 lb (5.45 ft). Only I hate about this diet: no more beer / wine , awful taste in my mouth and the excessive trips to the loo with the copious amts of water that I drink! Otherwise I'm pretty chuffed with my willpower - hope it stays this easy!

    Chubbs ~ Hello & Welcome To Atkins & The ADBB Forum !!!

    I spent a full year "2008" trying "Everything Under TheSun" to loose weight (But The Atkins Program )
    & I only lost 18 pounds by yrs end !!!


    The only other thing I had to show for it was my Blood Pressure & Blood Sugar Levels were through the roof !!!

    The wonderful folks I surround myself here on "ADBB" daily have given me the strength to loose 50 pounds & 8
    clothing sizes in the last 8 months since 1/1/09 !!!

    I can Thankfully say that since 5/15/09 Iam now off my High Blood Pressure & Type II Diabetes Meds !!!

    We have have alot going on around here 24/7 it may be sharing our stories or giving & reciving information & we have a lot of fun in the process !!!

        Try drinking decaf or at least half caf coffee -- the caffeine causes cravings in many people.

        The awful taste in your mouth is keotsis which is what you want...that is the fat burning process starting. You will live not having beer/wine for a few months -- no one has ever expired from not having a beer!

        Make sure the water you are drinking is pure water -- and no less than 64 oz daily (the more the better). What exercise are you doing? Dr. Atkins say in the 2002 DANDR book (the edition we follow here) that exercise is mandatory.

        Check the recipe sites for good things to eat so you don't become bored eating the same things over and over. Good luck to you.

          NO! I just can't kill my coffee anymore than I have! It hasn't given me cravings (yet)... Regarding the excercise, I have a pretty active job but I guess ill have to haul my butt out for a run everyday. Pure water? I'll look that up on the forum...is tap not good enough?

            Tap is pure water. Just not anything added like sugary flavorings.

              Another thing to hate about the diet is that you have to constantly have to buy new clothes as your old ones get too big. It is horrible.

                Hi CHUBBS, I couldn't completely give up my coffee either and it has never given me cravings. I do half caffinated and half decaf together but thats as far as I got in weaning myself away.

                  I can relate on being a lurker...
                  thats okay too, but it does feel good to talk things out with others, and really to get some other ideas!

                  I HAVE NOT Given up my coffee...
                  I did give up "pop" or "soda" but... coffee is a staple that im not willing to give up.. and really its not giving me cravings or anything...
