Hello, my name is Carissa and Im a 26 yr old mum of 2 from Australia.
I have been interested in the Atkins diet for some time now, Ive seen others people have some really good results on it, and although they have offered their advice, I never really know where to start.

Im hoping joining this forum will shed some light and help me get started

Welcome. The moderators will give you great advise. Just stick to the strict 14 day induction, and from there you can gauge if you are metabolically resistant or can move up the rungs. Drink plenty of water, 64 oz daily and try to get a bit of exercise in. Although being a mum of 2, I'd hedge my bets you get plenty of exercise already.

        Re: Introducing Rizzle

        Hi and welcome --
We follow the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) it would be a helpful for you to have a copy of the book to refer to. At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book - http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html

Within a few days of being on plan the sugar cravings will do away and you'll find you have more energy - just hang in there until it happens - it is definately worth it!!
Make a copy of this list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.
