Hello Friends,

My friends call me Daveed.

Well, I am finally back to an Atkins Diet. I first did the diet about 1996 when my weight got up to my highest of 210#. I lost 30# then.

I have kept the weight off for *wow* 13 years, but unhealthy lifestyle choices, addiction to alcohol, and 10 months unemployment has taken its toll and my weight has gone back up to ~203#.

I am now in recovery for the alcoholism (10 months) and I am ready to take "control" of some other areas of my life with the help of friends and my Higher Power. This forum may be of some help ... so here I am!

Thanks, in advance, to all who will be supportive. My desire is for peace on Earth and good will towards men (and women).

Welcome to the board. I believe you can post new threads once you become a SUPPORTING MEMBER. Give what you can. This board is awesome, and you meet awesome people that have gone through the same struggles.

We follow the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) it would be a helpful for you to have a copy of the book to refer to. Make a copy of this list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

Congratulations -- one day at a time, one step at a time, and I've added "one meal at a time"......I've been sober since 1999 -- there are a few others of us here who are regaining our lives with each others help.

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.
