Hi. I have tried dieting all my life and have tried Atkins several times. I am 55 now and the weight is giving my body a beating. I hope this is the last time I ever start a diet because I will never need to again.

Re: I'm New
Be sure to read DANDR 2002 to learn how you can accomplish your goal of never needing another food plan. This can work for life. I'm a little older than you are and have been on this plan for five years. I've invested myself in this plan and wouldn't trade it for the world. I've had great results both from a weight perspective and a health perspective. I've been able to come off from all of my diabetes medication and insulin, I'm off my blood pressure meds and my doctor couldn't be more helpful to me in achieving my health goals.
No question that I'm sold on this way of life. For me, it is a way of life because it is the only thing that ever worked for longer than a few months.
My best to you.
When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

Re: I'm New
Hi and welcome to ADBB Montana.
We follow the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) it would be a helpful for you to have a copy of the book to refer to. At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book - http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html
Make a copy of this list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).
The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.
