I am 50 yrs old on the outside and 12 on the inside!!!! My husband and I both started 8 days ago. Hard at first but we are getting used to it. We love to take scooter trips, bicycle and just plain ole have fun together. We have been married 32 years and have always gained and lost weight together. We have been thru much these past few years, addicted family member, death of my dad and breast cancer, food was our comfort. Now, no more addiction for our family member, my dad was saved 2 months before he dies and I am now 2 years free of breast cancer. We are motivated and support is good!!!!!!! Thank you!!

Re: Hi, I am a NEWBIE, my 8th day.....
Hi and welcome -- congratulations on getting 8 days behind you already! I hope you have read the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) book - that's what we follow here on this board. If you don't already have a copy, it would be a good idea to get one so you'll know the science behind the plan and can read about what you are doing.
Make a copy of this list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).
Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin without iron (you should get enough iron with the foods you are eating on Atkins).
There are plenty of challenges to join, different interests to get involved in and journalling which helps get things out of your head and out in the open so you can deal with them!
The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

Sounds like you guys are ready. Yes it may take some time getting used to - depending of how you were eating before. But it becomes old hat. (how many carbs in old hats
) Hope to hear more about your journey.

Re: Hi, I am a NEWBIE, my 8th day.....
Ooops! Went to the store for flaxseed for constipation and got flaxseed whole grain instead of meal, did not notice till this morning the note I forgot to take with me to the grocery store. Ever try eating whole grain raw or making a powder and mixing it in water (yuk) Live and Learn my friends, but it did work!!!!!!! LOL
