  • Allow me to introduce myself :)

hi everyone. I am a newbie here... I had been on an atkins diet 3 years ago and made me lose so much weight in so little time. I thought I would never go back to this diet since it made me gain all the weight( or even more!) that i had lost BUT when I found this website, i realized that what I was doing was wrong and it's more on a change of lifestyle and not a diet.

I lost 18-22 pounds in a month on atkins last March 2006
( from 160 pound I went down to 138 in 4 weeks because I was trying to lose all the weight I can before senior ball :] )

I left my country (Philippines) for college and came here to the states. I am currently 176 now. This is very big for my height since I am not that tall (only a 5'2 ) lol

but anyway I just wanted to introduce myself and also to let all of you know that I have enjoyed reading your posts and looking at your pictures. Goodluck to everyone and goodluck to me

TODAY IS MY FIRST DAY FOR INDUCTION I will post a picture today and keep you updated in 2 weeks and see if this 2nd time around will still work.

    Me now

This was before I gained all the weight and at the same time my goal weight ( 135-140 ). Take note this is also when I did the atkins diet for 4 weeks.

Re: Allow me to introduce myself

Welcome back -- you were already on Atkins before but since you said you weren't doing it correctly here is some information to help get you started the right way!!

    Welcome to the Atkins Board.

The 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is the book we follow here. It would be a helpful for you to have a copy of the book to refer to (
www.amazon.com or www.half.com have inexpensive copies). At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book - (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin without iron (you should get enough iron with the foods you are eating on Atkins).
Check all around the board for everything there is to, there is a challenge section with both exercise and non exercise challenges, Rate My Menu for help with your food, journaling – something for everyone.

Make a copy of this list
(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!

        You are very pretty.
Good for you checking out Atkins again. Yes I think many people go back to "normal" and then put on the weight. "normal" is what made us heavy so obviously if go back to it we will get back to heavy. So learning how to be a low carber is the thing.

I hope you have good luck on induction. Sounds like you are quite a loser And then you move to OWL and take your time upping your carbs again to your new and sustainable normal.

Good for you staying strong. It is not always easy. But you have to do it.

I have exercised - it has helped with toning. I feel really good as I am in better shape. I do running and strength training. I have a strength training monthly challenge in the Exercise forum if you want to join for September. I started slow though as it was so new to me. A few knee push ups and squats and then I did some walking videos. But I am really enjoying the exercise part of my life now (well most of the time)
