Hi! My name is Melissa. I have been in the induction phase for two weeks tomorrow and have lost 7 lbs. I think I may be hitting a plateau here and am needing to get creative with some different recipes. It's hard when the hubby and kids like all of the carbby stuff. Love this forum, great info!

Hi Melissa and welcome to ADBB! You aren't plateauing unless you go four weeks without a loss of inches or weight, but many people do see a big slowdown or stop for a couple of weeks right after Induction. It is commonly called Post Induction Stall Syndrome and is a result of your body needing time to adjust. If you hang in there for the next couple of weeks, you'll get a major drop when your body has figured out what to do. Just wait it out and stay true to the plan. Lots of folks get a 4-5 pound whoosh at the end of P.I.S.S. The main thing is to be patient during this time.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

Thanks guys. Good info Jill, on the stall. It's been a couple days with seeing no difference on the scale...I'll be patient.

          Hi Melissa -

Congratulations on your loss this far - Jill is right, it's not a "stall" it's just a pause - I hope you took your measurements as well as beginning weight when you started - it will help if and when this pauses occur (and they happen to most of us).

Check the challenges starting on the 1st of the month and join a few to get and keep you motivated. Check the recipe sites for new ideas for meals. I cook for my mother and husband who don't follow Atkins, so I know it can be hard to make meals but if you stay creative you'll do fine. I start with meat and veggies that I can eat, then I make a salad for all of us and once in awhile add something carby for them. It honestly doesn't bother me now to cook for them and not eat the food because I've found enough foods that I eat along side of their foods that I don't miss things like mac & cheese - I have mockafoni & cheese; fried potatoes? I have fried radishes, mashed potatoes, I have creamed turnips or loaded cauliflower. You'll find recipes you like also!!

Make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise daily and taking a multi-vitamin without iron (you should get enough iron with the foods you are eating on Atkins). You'll get through this pause and will start loosing again.

          Good luck to you!
