  • Hi - I'm Excited to Join...

    Hi,

Well, here goes... I'm excited to join! This has been a long time coming. I've dieted for as long as I can remember and seem to lose up to 30 pounds then put it all back on and then some.

I'm originally from England, then moved to Australia when I was 8 years old, then lived in Germany, Switzerland and Singapore and now sunny Arizona.

I'm 49 years old and I would like to be trim and beautiful for my very special niece's wedding in Australia by February??? Also... would like to look a lot better than I do now for my 50th Birthday...

Apart from all of that, I have a wonderful husband and a 9 year old son and I would like to be a healthier person and be on this planet for a good while longer to enjoy my wonderful family. This is something that I would like to do long term - no more yoyo-ing...

Looking forward to having the company of fellow dieters... and checking in every day.

Welcome. I am in my late 40s as well and I am very happy with what Atkins has brought me. I hope it will work as well for you to. And it will if you work it. Take time to make sure you know what is involved by reading the book and some of the stickies in our FAQ forum. Check in every day for sure. And post in the forums. It helps

Also our exercise challenges are about to start up. If you need some exercise motivation.

Welcome to the Atkins Board Kazzie.

The 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is the book we follow here. It would be a helpful for you to have a copy of the book to refer to (
www.amazon.com or www.half.com have inexpensive copies). At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book - (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin without iron (you should get enough iron with the foods you are eating on Atkins).

Check all around the board for everything there is to, there is a challenge section with both exercise and non exercise challenges, Rate My Menu for help with your food, journaling – something for everyone.

Make a copy of this list
(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!

        Kazzie,

        Welcome to the

I can't think of a better way to celebrate your 50th birthday and your niece's wedding in Australia by being on the Atkins eating plan. You'll feel so much better about yourself. You'll notice complete differences in the first week on the plan.

I am 54 now and even 20 pounds makes a major difference in our lives (believe me, I've just had a chance to see that). So, I'm so excited to see that you're so excited.
