Re: 2nd Try at this....and my 1st day of Induction completed...

    Welcome to the Atkins Board.

The best thing to do is stay off the scale until the end of your 2 week induction -- if you can't go 2 weeks then at least way a few days (or 1 week). Many things determine if weight loss will show up -- give it more than 1 day. If you are hungry eat something - you shouldn't be hungry on Atkins. Grab a piece of chicken and dip it in mayo or cream cheese, eat some veggies dipped in sour cream -- just don't let yourself go hungry. Eat until you are full -- it's really not that hard to do.

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin without iron (you should get enough iron with the foods you are eating on Atkins).

Check all around the board for everything there is to, there is a challenge section with both exercise and non exercise challenges, Rate My Menu for help with your food, journaling – something for everyone.

The 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is the book we follow here. It would be a helpful for you to have a copy of the book to refer to (
www.amazon.com or www.half.com have inexpensive copies). At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book - (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html

Make a copy of this list
(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

Don't let yourself get hungry. Have a healthy (fat/protein) snack if you need too. Hungry is not the best causes unstable bloodsugar.
There will be many many many days where the scale will not budge and then there will be days where it actually goes up for no good reason. That is how it works. Weightloss is not linear.

Also we are starting exercise challenges. Check out the exercise forum and sign up for some. Great motivation

            1. Stay off the scale. If you can't, give it away. Avoid supermarkets with scales and switch to shopping at your local farmer's market and butcher shops. Besides, it's a lot more economical to shop this way.

            2. Cut out all diet colas and switch to just water. You'll be amazed at how quickly your sugar cravings dissipate after eliminating the "taste".

            3. Drink at least 64 oz of water/daily. It's quite easy to achieve. 4 bottles of 16.9oz of bottled water will achieve this. Alternatively, you can get a big 64 oz mug and place some frozen ice in there and sip on it throughout the day.

            4. In the morning, drink a tall glass of water and EAT. Do not let yourself get hungry. I've found when I've let myself get hungry, my cravings were stronger.

            5. Eat three meals per day and two snacks in between. You should be good to go.

FINALLY .. EXERCISE. You seem to be off to a great start, and I want to see you achieve your goals. We're in this together. Good luck and if you need additional help, we're here for you.

Good for you -- now that you know you the scale is moving try to stay off for a few days (or even until the end of your first week). Keep eating the correct foods, drinking pure water, exercising -- you're on your way!!!
