  • Hello everyone

Just signed in. About to embark on the journey. Have been poorly for the past few days so getting back to normal now and starting on Monday - food shopping tomorrow for the 'as 0 carb as possible' food for induction.

I joined WW in Jan and lost a stone and a bit but have been stuck for way too long and have, although it may change as the weight falls off, 28lbs to go

Welcome, esellek! Have you read the DANDR 2002 book yet? You don't need zero carb foods for Induction. You will need some different proteins (meats, poultry, eggs, fish, etc.) and veggies. Here's a list of allowable foods during Induction to help you make up your shopping list. There is a Brit group on ADBB that can help you with any food translations (i.e., zucchini = courgette, eggplant = aubergine, arugula = rocket, etc.)

The Induction FAQs are also helpful reading.

Good luck on Monday! I switched over from another diet plan too as I was just not losing weight anymore. Atkins is working very well for me and others and I hope you will like it too.

      Re: Hello everyone

yay...good luck! i'm day 12! my advice: follow it to a T. i was rebellious and continued coffee, didn't effect my loss, but i felt like crap! real crap!

you can do it! i've been a toxic eater and drinker the last few years, and my habits were broke immediately. i don't miss it, i traded my wine in for a 2 mile jog and a 8-9 hr night of sleep. i used to sleep 4-6 hrs/night. not saying it's been a breeze, but by day 7, i was good to go!

      here's to us all!!

        Re: Hello everyone

        Welcome to the Atkins Board.

The 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is the book we follow here. It would be a helpful for you to have a copy of the book to refer to (
www.amazon.com or www.half.com have inexpensive copies). To get off on the right foot it's best to read as much about Atkins as possible -- just because a label says "0 carb" doesn't mean it's something you should be eating.

At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book - (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html. Make a copy of this list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin without iron (you should get enough iron with the foods you are eating on Atkins).

Check all around the board for everything there is to, there is a challenge section with both exercise and non exercise challenges, Rate My Menu for help with your food, journaling – something for everyone.

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

          Re: Hello everyone

Welcome. I have done WW in the past too and found it to be a lot more work and frustration with very small losses. This WOE agrees with me and I feel so good when I am on Atkins. Hopefully you will too.

              Re: Hello everyone

just had some scrambled eggs, (fresh from the chooks, we have four in the garden) was supposed to be an omlet but well my cooking skills are not good in that area. Sprinkled in 1/2 oz of cheese and well was quite scrummy. Way better than the Special K I have been downing!

Lucky you with fresh eggs. I can vague remember how good they were. We had some chicks when I was a kid.
Scrambled eggs is one of my staple meals. I never get tired of it. I add things to it. Like green onion, mushroom, pepper, bacon cheese and it is yummy stuff.
Don't forget your water Sarah and I hope you have a super day.
