Just checking in here. I am new to the Atkins approach, though I have seen others do well with it.
As with most people on here, or at least starting on here, weight is an issue with me. I am sick and tired of being overweight.... Of having a fat wardrobe and a skinny wardrobe, getting scrutinized every 6 months for my military physical readiness exam and body fat composition test, having my little son tell me I look like I have a baby in my tummy; all of this has driven me to the point that I am now.
I am a carb-addict. I love all things bread, breaded, chips, crackers... Giving these comfort foods up will be tough, but not exceptionally. I have good resolve when I set my mind to it! I just need to stick in there for the long haul.
I have been on induction for 6 days now. I have read portions of the Atkins book, and gone so far a getting Ketostix. After six days, my ketosis test shows only trace, so maybe I am doing something wrong... Last week, I did have coffee every day; although just black. Additionally, I probably ate too much cheese (like between 4 and 5 of those mozarella sticks/day). I will cut back on the cheese and eliminate the coffee to see what happens with the ketostix.
Oh yeah, I have hardly eaten any vegetables..... Certainly none that were not on the induction list and definitely not over the limit... Is this a problem for induction?
Cheers-
