Hi All,just found this board today.I hope somebody can help me.I have been doing atkins on and off for a few years now, usually before holidays. However, the last few times,i have developed haemhorroids.I take ispaghula husk morning and night to prevent constipation,so don't understand why this is happening, but it is so painful.I just finished my induction yesterday and was delighted to lose 5 pounds, but don't know if i can keep going if i'm going to suffer like this.Has anyone else had this problem? Surely i can't be the only one? Please,if you can give me any advice,i'd be really greatful.I really don't want to throw the towel in,especially as i am over the hardest part. Please can anybody help? Thankyou.

Re: help ! haemhorroids!
I've never heard anyone else having hemmoroid problems with Atkins - phyllium husk or flaxseed is what is recommended. You may be using too much ispaghula husk -- the recommendation is 1 Tbsp daily with plenty of pure water to keep from everything backing up and making it difficult to pass the stool. How much are you taking daily - and how much water are you drinking during the day to help rid your body of the stools?
Just a question...why do you only follow Atkins "on and off for a few years now, usually before holidays" and not all the time? Atkins isn't meant to be a regular "diet" but a way of eating for a lifetime.
Good luck finding your answer -- maybe Georgiana can help.Carole_____________________May Water 130oz daily

You're the first one that I can remember that mention this.
Do you eat your vegetables?

Re: help ! haemhorroids!
Spinach does the trick for me, every time! Some people swear by celery for constipation. Before and after:

Re: help ! haemhorroids!
Thanks for the advice, but the strange thing is i'm not constipated as i'm taking ispaghula husk,so don't understand why it's happening. I'm hoping that now i'm eating more salad and veggies that they'll go away.I even had lettuce with my omelette this morning! I'll try anything.
