diabetic and Byettta

Hi
I have been on Atkins since June and have lost 24 lbs. I feel it is a very slow journey, but it is working. I have never left the induction phase, I am diabetic, high blood pressure, insulin resistant, and have a treated thyroid problem. I was wondering if anyone here is on a drug called Byetta which my doctor just started me on to control blood sugar?

Hi and welcome --
I'm type 2 diabetic and have been able to get my sugars under control since starting Atkins in January. I understand when you say your loss has been slow - mine has also but I take meds for other things other than the diabetes. (I take metformin/glybride in the morning and metformin at night). I stopped loosing on induction and started up the Rungs - that has helped me so much - you may want to think about doing the same soon. Stick with it -- the plan does work - just slower for some of us than others.

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin. Check all around the board for everything there is to, there is a challenge section with both exercise and non exercise challenges, Rate My Menu for help with your food, journaling – there is something for everyone.

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.
