    Hey all,

Decided to sign up and maybe make some new friends. One of my captcha words was "fudge."
I am on about day 5 of induction right now. I seem ok on energy until I sit in my chair at work too long(IT, so it happens a lot) or try to do heavy exercise like pull-ups. I still get hungry often but I have been clean and I am definitely in induction.

I started at 148, down to 142. So minus the 3 or 4 pounds of glycogen and water associated with it I have lost a couple pounds so far. I was just on a calorie/fat restricted diet for the last year but I have been stalled for a couple months and my cravings were getting out of control.

    Anyways, thanks for having me.

    Welcome to the Atkins Board.

I hope you’ve read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR), it’s the book we follow on this bulletin board. If you haven’t until you can get a copy you’ll fina a condensed version at the top of the induction - (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html.

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin. Check all around the board for everything there is to, there is a challenge section with both exercise and non exercise challenges, Rate My Menu for help with your food, journaling – there is something for everyone

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

      Re: Newbie

      Thanks for the welcome.

I think I have most of it down. I have the book and have read most of it. I was drinking around 100 oz. of water and doing 2 hours of running a day with my old diet and always take a vitamin. My knees were startin g to give out though and I am hoping I can cut back on the exercise a bit with this diet. If not, I think I am going to have to start focusing on muscle mass...

Great that you the book. Not that many people start with it. But we certainly encourage people to use it.
Keep drinking that water. If running will not work (knees need to be listened to) there is so much else you can do.

            Re: Newbie

It is going perfectly fine so far. Thanks for asking and taking an interest. I wasn't expecting more replies in this thread or I would have checked in sooner.

I was stuck at a poker game this weekend with Wendy's as my only choice of food. I may have gone over a little that day on cheese just because it was hard to scrape off and I already had my allowance for the day. I would have ordered it without but there were a lot of people and someone was being nice enough to go pick up the food. I didn't want to ask for too much. I also tried to drink a Pepsi One but I thought it tasted horrible, which I suppose is a good thing.

It feels like I am eating way more than I should be but I will trust the diet, at least for a month or so. I have been up for four hours and so far I have had three eggs with a bit of mayo on each, two burger patties, and a large salad(cabbage, lettuce, celery) with Caesar dressing. I spaced out everything, even the eggs, trying to eat one and then wait 15-30 minutes but I would still be hungry or just start to get hungry again.

Do you think I should try to eat more in one sitting and maybe it will last me longer? It is hard to picture how the stomach works.

I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Have a great day.

              Re: Newbie

I eat a normal meal - breakfast I have a 2 egg omelet with green onion, cheese and colored peppers) cheese on top. Your body will tell you when it's full - I drink water during each meal and put my utencils down inbetween bites. Besides eating slower I am finding out how much food I need, and how much I "want".

Good to hear you are drinking 80oz of water daily -- hopefully it's pure water and not a drink mix or other additives added.

The cheese used at most fast food places is american processed cheese -- not good for you. There is a brand called Deli Deluxe that is good - or use shredded cheese off a brick for your hamburgers. If you are in the situation of having a cheese burger again scrape as much off as you can -- and it's not a big deal to order 1 hamburger without cheese at any restaurant.

Sounds like you are doing well.

Trusting your body is a good thing. It is about building a relationship that will last your whole life.
I think if you feel you are eating a lot - look over your menu for hidden sugars. Sometimes those trip us up.
