Just realized I was supposed to introduce myself...
I'm off to a great start with my induction phase, but I have a couple of concerns:
1) I had an excruciating migraine and period cramps last night, so I broke down after HOURS of pain and took two Advil. I noticed a sweet taste, so I immediately searched the site, and sure enough, someone else posted about it. Of course, the kind I took have a sugar coating (they were at my fiance's house-- I usually use non-coated Aleve). So, I'm not sure how this will affect my induction.
2) I added mustard to my chicken salad last night, but I noticed mustard is not on the induction list! Some people adhere so strictly to the induction list that I'm guessing some die-hards "don't eat it if it's not on the list." However, millions of people accept that it is a low carb condiment, and THIS SITE even includes it in induction-friendly recipes. Am I missing something?
3) I realize eggs are "free" on induction and during the Atkin's diet in general, but I KNOW I've read somewhere that they contain carbs and can interfere with a low carb diet (much like oysters and mussels). With this knowledge, should I limit my daily egg intake during induction? Each egg contains about 1 gram of carbs...
3) I bought a package of nitrite/nitrate-free hot dogs (I try to do organic and natural when possible), but I noticed cane sugar in the ingredients. The carbs is listed as <1, but I know because it has sugar in it I shouldn't use it for induction. Will I be able to eat the hot dogs after my 2-week induction? Isn't induction just a "stricter" form of the diet itself?
4) Am I allowed to eat potato chips during induction? JUST KIDDING!
Otherwise, I'm doing great. Keeping good food records, too. Need to exercise-- that's the area in which I need the most motivation. But, between my brother's and my fiance's encouragement, I think we'll all go together to work out tonight.
