I have decided to take action. I am tired of always hating the way I feel about my size. I noticed that there are a lot of comments about the more you weigh the faster you lose. Is it possible to lose a lot if you only want to lose 25 lbs. total. I can assure you those extra 25 lbs are taking an emotional tole on me! I have been reading as much as possible and plan to start induction tomorrow!!!

Re: determined
Yes it is possible to lose even if you have less to lose. You will not lose the big amounts that some people that are very overweight may drop right away. But if you follow the rules you will be fine.

Welcome to the Atkins Board.
I hope you’ve read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR), it’s the book we follow on this bulletin board. If you haven’t until you can get a copy you’ll fina a condensed version at the top of the induction - (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html. You'll find Atkins isn't a "quick fix loose a bunch of weight so you can go back to doing what you were before" type of diet -- it is a lifestyle change.
Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin. Make a copy of this list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list.
The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

Re: determined
Hi determined44 and WELCOME.
I definetly understand how having an extra 25 (or 50 or more) pounds on you can take an emotional toll. I've been there myself and wouldn't be HERE if I wasn't trying to lose it (again) hehh
Best of luck to you and I hope you dive right in and get a lot out of your start on Induction. If it's any consolation I've dropped (almost) 25 pounds since I started 5 weeks ago- nothing to sneeze at!
You'll also find this site to be a great help & support and you may want to check out Fitday.com to keep track of your foods, calorie, fat, protein, carb intake and progress.Pete
