    Hi all!

I have been stalking this site for a while and have determined that I NEED, WANT, and HAVE TO HAVE support. I've really enjoyed reading all the posts old and new and have answered most all of my questions with just reading your questions. Very comforting in deed.

My story is short and sweet. I'm 5'2" and have a very small frame. I weighed 110 until sophomore year of college, then 120 when I met my husband, the 130 when I got married, the 140 when I got pregnant the first time, the 150 when I got pregnant the second time, then 165 when I was 6 months post-partum with #2. You see the trend here.

Oddly enough I ate like a nature guro. I'm talking 100% whole grains, flax seed, organic almond butter, hummus, apples, berries, kashi 7 grain cereal, huge salads with only a 1/2 tbls dressing, potatoes, corn with spray butter, 80 oz water/day, no fat this, low fat that, etc, etc, etc. Again...you get the picture. But the catch was I was addicted to carbs - soy ice cream, dark chocolate, warm bread, more ice cream(really a strong one- ha!) My calories NEVER went over 1200-1500 but they certainly were half the sweet stuff.

I also excercise (run a few miles a few times a week), hike, kick-box, chase after my two kids, blah blah blah.

And I would get HEADACHES...massive pounding headaches. And I would be so exhausted by 8pm that I would melt into the couch and stay there until I was able to drag myself to bed. And I was grouchy...like no patience for anyone or anything. AND I could NOT get below 140 to save my life.

So I started reading Sugar Blues, Sugar Shock, and Atkins. I started doing MY OWN research since everything I was led to believe about atkins was BAD BAD BAD. Boy was I ELATED to find out differently!!!!

I started Atkins 7/15 so with Induction DONE I'm down 11 pounds (I've added 2 back on but realized too much cheese and heavy cream), Headaches are GONE, Energy is THROUGH THE ROOF, and my Niceness...still working on it.

But I'm here for the loooong haul and I'm really starting to love figuring out what works and doesn't work FOR ME. I'm different that Jane, Joe, and Janet so I'm loving being so in tune as to what foods back me up, make me stall, and kill my energy.

I'm ok that this is going to take a while because this is my life and my change and I'm going to really enjoy this journey.

So HI!!! I'm REALLY EXCITED to be here and be doing this! And I'm taking pictures the entire way and CANNOT WAIT to post them!

        Re: Certifiable Carb Addict

Hi Missy. Glad you have found this WOE suits you. When you decide to start up the owl rungs, go SLOWLY. Add one food at a time and really note the reaction you get from your body. Some carbs bother me way more than others. I can get away with part of a sweet potato (much later in the rungs) with no cravings but rice and peanuts set me off big time. You are going to find as you go through the rungs that you will have your own unique triggers. And I experience that hungover feeling when I stray, just like you mentioned. I feel less bloated, more energetic, and just have a sense of well being when I am true to this WOE.
