I thought since I've been lurking on this board for a couple months, I thought I might as well introduce myself. My name is Debbie and my weight gain started when I started dating my husband. (In college, I lived off of Macaroni and Cheese and Spagettios.) He cooked all of the time and it was normally fried and with bread.
Then, I got pregnant and gained an additional 50 pounds. Unfortunately, it stayed with me.
Now, my daughter is almost 4 years old, and I think it's kind of ridiculous for me to keep blaming it on baby weight.
About a year ago, my husband and I went to Disney World and I have to say that although I didn't have a problem, the seats were a little snug on a few of the rides. I have to say that I didn't like that problem. Plus, I didn't want to feel like I wasn't giving my daughter all the experiences she deserved. All of her friends are going to the pool and the beach, but I didn't even like to see myself in shorts, there was no way a bathing suit was going to go on me. If I didn't want to see it, I wasn't going to force anyone else to see it. :nono
So, I thought about it and decided to do a low-carb diet. I looked over both South Beach and Atkins and thought Atkins would fit me better.
I've almost lost 30 pounds and have not cheated once since I've joined. I'm pleased with the results so far, but still have so much further to go. I come to review the messages on this site several times a week. If not for anything else, it helps keep me motivated.
My cousin is an opera singer who will be in London in September. One of my goals is to get down at least another 30 pounds by then. I haven't seen her since the beginning of March and she's like my sister. I want to see her reaction when I finally leave Florida to go see her performance. So, wish me luck in meeting that goal.
Okay, so there I am.
