  • Starting Over Again!

    Hello Everyone, I was here in May of this year and fell off the wagon! I am here to try this again!!!!

    Anyways, I just went to the doctor had my blood work done and was told that I need to be put on Cholesterol Meds, Diabetic Meds and up my thyroid Meds because my levels have been there too long. I am 33 years old and too young for that medication so maybe this will sink in for me to get my butt in gear and loose some weight! I talked to my endo about starting atkins and he said absolutely NOT! But I am a curious person, and I guess now rebeling against him. I asked for 3 more months to try this diet and then after 3 months then, blood work, and evaluate the situation from there. Obviously I don't want to be on those meds, but this is a HUGE wake up call! I was working out everyday and then my thyroid went really out of wack! So then I was tired which helped me completely quit everything. I remember how I felt when I was did inducton the last time and I'm looking forward to that again. So if anyone has any suggestions on help to get through this again. I will be on here all the time now to stay focused! I am also looking for buddies to help keep me accountable if you are interested please let me know.
    Oh yeah, he raised my Synthroid Meds from 150 to 175.

    Welcome back –

    I am a Type 2 diabetic that has gone from an A1C of 10.3 in January to 5.0 two months ago when I saw my endocirnologist. I'm hoping to be taken off my meds when I go see her again next week. I've done this by following the plan the way it is written – hopefully you have a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR). Start exercising right away, drink plenty of pure water (64 ounces minimum daily – nothing added) and you’ll be on your way to loosing before you know it – don’t forget to get all your vegetables in daily!

Make a copy of this list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html - take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

          Welcome back!

          There's nothing like bad news from the doctor to motivate us into action. Congrats on taking charge of your health and not letting them scare you into all the drugs with all their side effects. I hope you show them they were wrong! Good luck!

            Thanks, yes it was pretty scary, but in reality, I think I knew it was coming. He said that if I was on the cholesterol meds that I couldn't even think about having any more kids. We are not sure if we are done yet with having kids or not, so that in itself scared me. But also the thought of not being there for my kids' future, college, weddings, babies, etc. I have roles in my life that I need to fill, so I am taking charge and moving forward!!!!
