  • hiya!

ok about me , im obviously new lol. umm i discovered the forums a few days ago when i was first thinking of starting Atkins. I am in my 3rd day of induction. my stats if i am doing them right are 250/248/150. I am really excited at the possibility of this being the diet that works for me. I have a mini goal to be 10lbs lighter by halloween, and another mini goal to be under 200 by valentines day.

      Re: hiya!

I sear its my biggest downfall! today my huusband tried to offer me a peanut butter cup and i was like you know i cant eat that! but ever since then ive been like stir crazy for chocolate. I dont know if its ok for induction but ive been trying to curb my cravings by making myself a cup of coffee with the mocha splenda (1 carb a packet) and the sugar free vanilla caramel caoffee mate (2 carbs for a tbsp) other than that i have been pretty good i think heres what i had today ...

2 cups of bagged salad with chicken chunks and 2 tbsp of dressing

pulled beef with green chilis - lunch

chicken salad with a 1/4 cup of lettuce and a pickle chopped into it wrapped in thin sliced chicken lunch meat - dinner

2 oz of swiss cheese with 2 oz of pepperoni- snack

I am still not sure if i am really doing it right though

        Hi bree --

I hope you’ve read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR), it’s the book we follow on this bulletin board. If you haven’t until you can get a copy you’ll find a condensed version at the top of the induction - (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html.

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin. Check all around the board for everything there is to, there is a challenge section with both exercise and non exercise challenges, Rate My Menu for help with your food, journaling – there is something for everyone

Make a copy of this list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

Coffee mate isn't on the acceptable food list -- according to the book you should be using heavy cream (up to 3 ounces) per day. Give yourself the benefit of the doubt - it's best to get off sweets from the beginning - after a few days without any you'll be amazed how sweet things taste naturally. Also -- make sure you eat something other than lettuce for your vegetables...there is a whole list of higher fiber and carb vegetables on the acceptable list.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!

Yep, looks good! You can safely have more veggies if you want. Induction allows for two cups of salad veggies, whatever is on the salad veggie list of foods. Plus an additional cup(measured raw) from the less than 10% carb veggies list or another cup of salad veggies. Peppers and lettuce are in the salad veggies list. There is a 4oz a day cheese limit, but you arn't over that either. Meat and veggies and some cheese. Try to stick with nice real foods while on induction and you should be fine.

My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

          1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
          2nd mini goal: 140!
          3rd mini goal:135!
          4th mini goal: 130!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.

I tell you what works for me when I see my family eating chocolate or ice cream (chocolate too), I grap a slice of the sharpest cheddar cheese that I can find. For some reason this works for me...don't know why...maybe cause it has a strong flavor and fat.

If cheese is not available, then I go for a walk, which clears my mind.

Good luck and enjoy your journey to a new you!
