  • Well,here I am...all @#$% lbs of me.

Hello, my name is Darlene, I'm 53 and the grandmother of 3 beautiful girls. I decided to try Atkins to see if I could lose 40-50 lbs. I decided I'm tired of giving Weight Watchers my money. I started WW the first of the year, started out fine; now find that I'm just 4 lbs lighter than when I started. 4 lbs over 8 months...something's wrong with this picture.
So here I am, headache and all. This is day 2 of inductions. I'm still trying to make sure I learn all there is to know about induction. So, if you find me asking lots of questions bear with me.

Welcome to the Atkins Board Darlene.

Glad you made the decision to start Atkins -- and it's always nice to have another "over 50" member!!

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin. If you haven't already, read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) so you know what the plan is all about.

Eat the foods on the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and find delicious recipes here: just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

      Re: Well,here I am...all @#$% lbs of me.

Welcome! You have come to a great place for friends and support. The best advice I can give you is to find a copy of DANDR2002 and read it from cover to cover...keep it on hand so you can reference it along the way. I have read mine alot and I always pick up something new each time. (I'm re-reading it again now too).

        Re: Well,here I am...all @#$% lbs of me.

Thanks for the welcome Carole and Carrie. It's good to know there is support out there...I'm gonna need all the help I can get. I do have the book from 1992 and I'm in the process of reading it now. I do want to do this the right way because I'm looking for positive results. Again, thanks for your welcome and support.

          Hi Darlene welcome
We use the book from 2002 here. It is a bit different from the 1992 one. If you see the 2002 version for sale at a garage sale or used - grab it.
Advice on this board will be according to 2002 - I am just letting you know so you willnot get confused if we contradict something you saw in the book.

Liv, thanks for responding. Sometimes, my fingers and my brain don't work on the same page. That is the 2002 book that I have...bright red.

I agree, this WOE is so much easier! I gave WW too much of my money also, with no result and a lot of frustration. Now 20 lbs lighter since Feb 1, I'm thrilled! I look forward to seeing you around the forum!
