Hi, I'm new to the "forum" thing. I've always struggled privately, so this makes me somewhat nervous exposing my greatest weakness and "shame" I've struggled with weight for most of my life and this year I've hit an all time high of 230. (Besides when I was pregnant with my son) I have PCOS which complicates things and makes my struggle all the more harder. All of my sisters and my mother are skinny which drives me INSANE. I hate pictures being taken of me now and I'm very self conscious. I know it is driving my husband nuts. I've been visiting these forums over the last couple of weeks, it was inspiring and helped me build the confidence and motivation I needed to begin my journey with the rest of you. I feel so much pride for all of you when I see the before and after photos and hear the success stories. I know firsthand it is not easy and at times very heartbreaking. I hope that next fall that I will be a success story and that my before and after pics will inspire someone to change their life. Best of luck to all!

Re: Ok, Here we go.......
Thanks!!! I've been revving up for this. I talked my husband into joining the bandwagon so hopefully that will be of more help. He's diabetic so it should do him a world of good as well.38 yrs, 5'6" female 230.5/213.5/135

Re: Ok, Here we go.......
Welcome aboard!! I love having "newbies" to hook up with! I'm on day 7 myself. I hate exposing things too, but after you do it a couple of times, it gets easier. Other people chiming in helps you see things in another light too. I've been fat all my life as well and I notice that is a re-occurring theme around here lol
Stick around girl! I would love to follow your progress and vice versa.

Thanks for the welcome!!! I appreciate any encouragement & support. I'm so afraid of failing this time. My first day was not so bad, but I won't let that fool me. I know I'm going to have MUCH tougher days. BTW, you're a knockout at the size you are!!! You will have your hands full when you reach goal! LOL38 yrs, 5'6" female 230.5/213.5/135

Re: Ok, Here we go.......
Welcome to the Atkins Board.
Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin. If you haven't already, read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR).
There is a forum here dealing with PCOS PCOS & Atkins Low Carb Living - Atkins Diet - you may find the help you need there also.
Eat the foods on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and find wonderful recipes here: just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. Vary your meals so you don't get tired of eating the same thing over and over -- we have too many choices for that to happen.

Re: Ok, Here we go.......
YEAH! I lost 2.5lbs in one day!
} Thanks for all of the encouragement guys, I was excited to log back on & share my first day! LOL I have to say, I don't know if any of you went through this but, I could NOT stop going to the bathroom yesterday. I hope that is a good sign of the "flushing out" of my body. Today should be an easy ride for me too. I bartend 3-5 days a week so I am worried more about surviving "restaurant" life. Sometimes I don't get to eat anything until 9-10pm at night and by that time I'm STARVING and craving carbs. That I think will be one of my toughest hurdles. I'll be working Thursday through Sunday so it should be interesting. Thank you for all the reading material too, I will def check it out. You guys all look great, I hope I achieve a measure of your success!

Re: Ok, Here we go.......
WOO~HOO!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm so happy for you!!
Gonna be a bit tacky here... but.. pee is our friend lol I've never peed so much either but I've never drank as much water either. The clearer the better and I like to think that every time I go pee, I'm flushing out more fat and toxins. Odd.. but whatever works!
Keep up the good work and try to stay off the scale. I am WAY tempted to jump on every time I walk by, but I've limited it to 2 times a week. Pack a little lunch cooler and take your allowed foods so you can snack at work. String cheese is great and easy, along with boiled eggs and maybe some jerky.
Again... I am sooo happy for you! Keep it up!

Re: Ok, Here we go.......
Oh, you have willpower.......I'm on the scale like 2 times a day! LOL Once before I lost about 95lbs....many years ago, under stress (using the Susan Powter formula - i think ultimately that helped to screw me up, too much sugar & empty calories). I became obsessed with losing weight & actually got to the point where I tentatively felt beautiful. But I've never gotten over the relationship with my scale. I can pretty much predict my weight before the scale shows me the number. LOL I'm bad.38 yrs, 5'6" female 230.5/213.5/135

Re: Ok, Here we go.......
Sexy... if you bartend, perhaps you could put out some olives as nibbles for clients and have the odd one yourself to curb the late night carb cravings. Being prepared is the best road to success. If you can't do that, keep some under the counter... or a couple of pieces of cheese. High fat snacks can be a lifesaver.

Re: Ok, Here we go.......
Hey you know what, that's a great idea! I hadn't even thought of that. That should be enough to keep the beast from grabbing at the first carb that comes along!!!! Thanks a bunch Sally!38 yrs, 5'6" female 230.5/213.5/135
