Hello all, I have finally reached my bottom. I am 33 years old, a mom of a 6 year old and I stay at home. I have gained over 100 lbs since I got married. I have noticed that as I gained weight, I stop looking at people in the eyes. Last week there was some great athletic looking group of people near my apt...I did not wanted to get out of my car because I felt embarrassed and ashamed and I really did not wanted to hear them laugh at me. Not that they would but in my mind I thought they would or they would judge me, so I drove around until they left. I don't look at people in the streets anymore, I don't want to see, how they would look at me..I am just so ashamed of being me. I have read the book you suggested here and I bought my list of food I need for induction, got rid of the junk in my fridge, now I hope can do it. i don't want to hide anymore, I want to wear summer dresses and belts. I want to walk with my head high once more. Wish me luck! I hope to get to meet all of you here and support you as you support me.

Re: Tired of Looking down
Welcome to the Atkins Board.
Get your head up and start look forward.....forward to all the wonderful days ahead of you. Congratulations on coming here and getting yourself ready to start a new adventure in your life.
Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and take a multi-vitamin. If you haven't already, read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR). Many of the challenges will be starting the first of the month, look around to see if there are any that interest you.
Eat ONLY the foods on the acceptable food list. If a food isn't on the acceptable food list you shouldn't be eating it until you are on that Rung of the plan. (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html . You'll find wonderful recipes here: just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. Vary your meals so you don't get tired of eating the same thing over and over -- we have too many choices for that to happen.

Re: Tired of Looking down
Hi Summerdressgirl
What a pretty name.
I agree with Carole: pick your head up and be proud that you are finally taking care of YOU now. The first couple of weeks can be tough while you figure things out and get used to a new way of eating but then you will hit your stride and be working towards that new summer dress.
Hope to hear more from you and please post if you have any questions.

Re: Tired of Looking down
I know my self confidence was down too when I reached by bottom.
But it is important to find the value and light within yourself. The real you will always be there and you can be a beautiful person nevertheless.
And yes as the two previous ladies says. You are doing it now so lift your head and walk proud.
I hope you had a great day. Stick around and ask questions or participate in the discussion and keep motivation high.

Re: Tired of Looking down
Hi!
I know what you mean about avoiding people who are fit. I also avoided people who were talking about food for fear that they would try to guess how much I had to eat in order to maintain my 300+ pound body! I feel so good on Atkins and I'm not counting the days until I can eat this or that like I used to on other "diets". YES, it's hard when my boys want a special treat that I used to love to eat, but I feel MUCH better staying on plan than any food has ever made me feel!
I also want to get down to 130--please stay active on the board and we can keep each other company on the journey. This really works!
