  • Hi From New Hampshire

    hi Everyone,
My name is Vanessa and I am from New Hampshire, USA. I have 3 daughters and a step son and a great husband. I love my life but I have always felt like I havent been me becasue of the 80 pounds that I carry that is extra. I was 105lbs before my first child and that was 15 years ago. I have been struggling with this for 15 years. I have tried Weight Watchers but to be honest I didnt give it my all as my expectations were that I expected the weight to come off fast and when it didnt I lost hope and was discouraged. I am a person that is afraid to fail and be disappointed.

Well I must say I am here and I am strong. I have made it through the first week of Induction and I am happy to report that I have lost 7 pounds so far.

As I was surfing through all the great information that is on this site I read a great and very true quote that I have listed on my signature. I got this from another member whome I quoted but boy can i relate to that.

My first week through induction was a struggle with food choices and I was doing the diet wrong at first such as I wasnt reading labels for the ingredients all i was looking for was the 0 carbs. I was also counting the carbs wrong. The 2002 book was great and I enjoyed reading it and becasue of this great site I have learned and understood the diet a bit better.

    Hi Vanessa --
Congratulations on your 7 pound loss so far! Good for you reading the book first -- and getting back on track when you found things you weren't doing correctly. Just a few things for you to remember.....

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and take a multi-vitamin. Many of the challenges will be starting the first of the month, look around to see if there are any that interest you.

Eat ONLY foods on the acceptable food list. If a food isn't on the acceptable food list you shouldn't be eating it until you are on the appropriate Rung of the plan.
(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html . You'll find wonderful recipes here: just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. Vary your meals so you don't get tired of eating the same thing over and over -- we have too many choices for that to happen.
