    Hello Everyone...

Day 3 of induction and I'm feeling FINE !!! Have lost 7.1 lbs so far but I'm guessing most of it is water weight...drinking 2 gallons of water daily and exercising too (1 hr cardio plus strength training) so I'm on my way.

I've been doing alright with the eating...DAY 1: 19.0 g carbs, 1795 cals. with 61% fat, 35% protein and 4% carbs. DAY 2: 18.9 g carbs, 1744 cals. with 72% fat, 24% protein and 4% carbs. Today: 19.6 g carbs, 2138 cals. with 64% fat, 32% protein and 4% carbs. Still trying to jostle with the food to get the numbers closer to 65/35/5. Any suggestions???

Gotta fly for now...time to hit the gym. Am looking forward to gaining a lot of knowledge from this forum...THANK YOU to the administrators and creators !!!

      Welcome to the Atkins Board.

You are drinking more than the minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added) - make sure you aren't drinking too much for your body and exercise level. Great news that you have already started exercising - I hope you are taking a multi-vitamin. If you haven't already, read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR). Many of the challenges will be starting the first of the month, look around to see if there are any that interest you.

Eat ONLY the foods on the acceptable food list. If a food isn't on the acceptable food list you shouldn't be eating it until you are on that Rung of the plan.

You'll find wonderful recipes here: just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. Vary your meals so you don't get tired of eating the same thing over and over -- we have too many choices for that to happen.

Many of us use www.Fitday.com to track our food so we know what our carb totals are for the day. It's important you know what you are eating and how many carbs you are taking in each day.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!

        Re: Newbie atkineer

        Hi Carole !!!

Thank you sooo much for your help/ideas !!! Yes, I do take a multi-vitamin each day plus a bunch of other supplements and I have been utilizing the fitday.com calculator religiously...it is invaluable to me as it allows me to see exactly where I am with my target percentages for fat, protein and carbs. So far, I am within 1 percent for protein target, right on target for fat and a little under (1-2%) for my carb intake. As for the water, I am not feeling any of the induction side-effects (with the exception of a little less energy yesterday near the end of my exercise routine and of course, my hands are blocks of ice and I'm cold most of the time. I can definitely live with that !!!) and I'm guessing it's because of my water intake? But thank you, I will keep an eye on it...last couple of days I've scaled back a bit with only 1.5 gallons per day...with the exercise I am doing I need it.

So far, I have lost 13.1 lbs and this is only my 7th day...I know a lot of it is water weight, but since day 5, I've dropped 5.7 lbs and I'm hoping this is fat loss. I give credit to the exercise I'm doing 6 days a week...not too intense but it definitely is aerobic and fat burning !!! I realize my losses so far are NOT typical and I am very pleased, but I also give credit to the strict way in which I am planning my meals as well as using the fitday site to make sure I am adhering to the correct percentages as I plan my meals a day in advance (which helps a lot).

Thank you again for your help !!! If you have any other ideas, I am open to them

        Have a wonderful day...
