  • yet another newbie!

Hi, I'm Karen. I'm 33, soon to be 34 on Halloween. I was on the Atkins diet about 10 years ago before I got married and lost about 15 pounds I think, I enjoyed it.
I'm back on because I have a serious problem with carbs and thinking about food. It's only been the past year or so- I seem to think about what dinner is almost every day obsessively and I was ordering out almost every night.
I want to lose about 20 pounds. I'm not sure how much I weigh now- I think I'm going to wait until I've been on this for at least a week. I'm not a very good scale person so I hope that my clothes will be the sign that this is working.
Happy October! Here in New Hampshire it's starting to get cold!

Staying off the scale and using your clothing is actually a great way to go. And right now is a wonderful time to be out walking in your world. I love the autumn in the northeast. I am originally a PA girl and our leaves follow yours by about two weeks but I am betting it is gorgeous in your area right now so get walking if you can. It will stoke your losses.

      Hi Jill,
Thanks for the response. I lived in PA for about 4 years- right outside Valley Forge in Phoenixville. My parents still live there so I get to visit now and then. It's beautiful there too- you get the four seasons but it doesn't get as cold. You're right- I'll be out walking this fall. I'm a runner but for the past 2 days I haven't had much energy. Supposedly that will change as my body gets used to this new diet.

Yep, and when it passes I always get a surge of energy. Hang in there--you will feel better soon. I grew up in NE PA where there was lots of sleet and freezing rain. Phoenixville sounds much nicer. Something about getting south of the Lehigh tunnel makes all the difference in the weather.
