  • Newbie here. Hi!

    Hi everyone!!

I'm in my 30s and this is my first time doing Atkins. I'm on day 9 of induction. I know I lost 2 lbs in the first few days but haven't weighed since. I feel great though! I love this not being hungry thing. I have about 20 lbs to lose in total. In the past, I've yo-yo'd 10 pounds. As soon as I closer my goal I seem to freak out and let it come back.

    Not this time!!

    Re: Newbie here. Hi!

Congratulations on your weight loss so far. I hope you're read the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution so you know how the plan works. Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water daily, take a vitamin and start exercising.

Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you should eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

      Re: Newbie here. Hi!

Welcome Geterdun. I also seem to loosen up as I approach various goals. I don't know why I do this but it is something i struggle with. You may want to do some serious thinking about why you sabotage yourself. Recognizing the cause will help you to not repeat the pattern. I suggest you start through OWL right after induction so you can work through the carb ladder. It will help you with your long term maintenance success.

      GOAL TWO 213 (personal goal)
      GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
      FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

          Re: Newbie here. Hi!

Thank you so much for your kind welcome!

I'm using a tracker on my iphone for carbs. It's been very useful. I'm nervous to move on from induction late next week.

I'd love to know why I self-sabotage! I know when I'm doing it too. Hopefully I can walk past it this time. I'll have to do some hard thinking.

There is no need to be nervous - you'll be adding 5 additional net carbs of vegetables on Rung 1 - more veggies - YUM!
