  • Hello :D

Hi , my name is Maryam. Just started atkins diet today.

My weight is 56 kgs and im 5'5. My goal is to lose 10 to 20 pounds. Hope this diet works...Im on induction and im not finding it difficult at all so im wondering if its too good to be true. The hardest part for me was probably cutting out the milk, fruit and nuts...but i guess itll be worth it..

Today my breakfast was a three egg omelete with the yolks..made in one teaspoon of butter. Plus i put in spinach, bell peppers, onions and some cream and i had some mozarella cheese with that.

later, i drank one cup of black tea with some cream in it.

Thats all ive had so far...its 8 pm...and not hungry at all..

Im always more health focused instead of lose weight now, i dont care how.
So atkins seemed like a good choice to me because i dont believe in low fat diets. Anyone whos read sally fallons nourishing traditions or nina plancks what to eat and why...will know why...anyways, wish me luck

      Re: Hello

Maryam, although this diet says to eat only when hungry, you should not go more than 5-6 hours a day without eating because you will slow down your metabolism and therefore slow your weight loss as well. You need to be eating about 1500 calories a day. Also you need 2 cups of salad veggies and a cup of other veggies daily. You will not lose if you don't eat enough. I suggest you get the book and read up on the plan.

          Welcome to the Atkins Board.

I agree with Jill -- you need to eat enough, if not your body will start holding on to every pound it can. You can eat the yolks of the eggs, Atkins isn't a "egg white only" deal - it's the "whole egg" deal. I don't see much fat in what you're eating - you need to get enough fat in each day.

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and take a multi-vitamin. If you haven't already, read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR).

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out! Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - eat enough vegetables - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily.
Many of us use www.Fitday.com to track our food so we know what our carb totals are for the day. It's important you know what you are eating and how many carbs you are taking in each day.

Any and all questions can and will be answered - all you have to do is ask!! Good luck.

            Re: Hello

            Welcome to the board, Maryam!

Once you get the hang of it, this diet will amaze you but you need to eat every 4 or 5 hours to keep your blood sugar level on an even keel, even if it's just something small like a piece of cheese or a couple slices of pepperoni. Just hang in there.

Thanks Blue, you are right about the blood sugar angle. I forgot about that.

Maryam, many of us use sparkpeople or fitday to track our nutritional intake and carbs. It's especially helpful in the frst month or so until you get the hang of it. Glad you like your veggies. Sounds like you are working it all out.

Hello. Thanks for the websites Imagood1...and actually, i am eating the yolks as well..I don't believe in only egg whites.

Yes, I agree with everyone about eating every 4 to 5 hrs. im eating egg omelette's for breakfast., chicken salad or eggs again for lunch, and lamb at night. the veggies im eating are spinach, onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers. i have lost 2 pounds already in 2 days. so im excited.

i only cheated by having some diet sprite.. which had aspartame in it.
