  • Hi everyone

    Hi all,

My name is Mike, and I live in Japan, both of which facts I'm sure you have already gathered. I'm originally from Australia, but have been here about 7 years.

I just turned 44, and I've been gaining weight fairly steadily since...I guess sometime in my 30's, probably early thirties.

I currently weigh 132.2 kilos (291 pounds), so as you can tell, I am not fading away. I am 178.5 cm tall (5'10.5"), and have wide shoulders and a pretty muscular build (although you wouldn't know so much under the fat).

Started Induction 3 days ago, as well as walking 1/2 hr every morning and night, and also started listening to some Tony Robbins stuff.

First 1.5-2 days were tough with cravings, headaches etc., but it seems to be calming down a bit now.

Just checked the scales this morning, and I've lost 1.5 - 2 kgs so far. That's pretty amazing to me, I hope it keeps dropping off like this.

I want to get down to about 90-95 kg ultimately.

Nice to be among you all.

    Cheers!

      Hi Mike, welcome.

It sounds like you're off to a great start! It definetly got "different" in my late 30s and 40s (I'm 45 now).

Good luck and hope you stick around this site- it's been a vital part of my success on Atkins.

Welcome to the Atkins Board Mike.

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and take a multi-vitamin. If you haven't already, read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR).

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out! Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - eat enough vegetables - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily.
Many of us use www.Fitday.com to track our food so we know what our carb totals are for the day. It's important you know what you are eating and how many carbs you are taking in each day.
