  • English - and annoyed! :)

    Hi

I'm a new member of this website, but have been reading it for the past few weeks getting motivated and inspired!

My baby is only 9 weeks old - and I started on Atkins when he was 5 weeks, when I had to stop feeding him myself.

My start weight is roughly what is was before I got pregnant ( I hadn't weighed myself in years). My current weight is from this morning, when I plucked up the courage to weigh myself - I'm really pleased with how it's going.

The main problem I'm having at the moment is the negativity from absolutely everyone about this WOE. According to most of them I'll be lucky if I don't die of kidney failure before Christmas, always assuming my arteries don't clog before this weekend!

I've read the book, and so I know the science but I'd really like to hear from people who's blood work has improved to reassure me. I know most of these people don't know what they're talking about - one person said 'Oh Atkins is a complete fad, and really dangerous' so I asked her which part of the book she disagreed with - she replied 'Oh I haven't read the book - but I've heard all about it'. Right.

Anyway, this is turning into a rant so I'll stop - just thought I'd say I love all the support you guys give each other on this forum and am pleased to be part of it now

    I hope I won't. I have a letter to finish! (to Santa )

Welcome to ADBB! I know many members who've been around for years and are still breathing (and typing ). You could read these two threads:

      Welcome to ADBB, hatti!

This is day #504 for me since I started back on Atkins in May of last year and I'm not dead yet! (I keep a written food diary and always put the number of the day at the top of the page).

My blood tests showed improvements in several areas although I can't give you the exact numbers since I've forgotten them but my doctor says I'm doing great and to keep it up.

So it's up to you to prove them all wrong, and you can do it because this is the best diet there is!

        Hi Hatti,

Glad you found your way here. You will find that a great many people think they know what Atkins is about and will lecture you all day if you let them. Many of us just say we are cutting down on starches and sugars or that we are giving up processed foods. Basically, whatever works in the situation. I have even told people I am allergic to flour.

We shouldn't have to do this but it beats listening to the Anti-Atkins fanatics. The best revenge is when it works and then they don't know what to say.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.
