  • Hello!

    Hello to everyone!
My name is Sue and i am 47 years old, mother of 2 older, and a meme to my little grandson thats 4.
I have noticed in the last 3 years, out of nowhere i have gained 20 lbs, did the ww program to lose 12 lbs in 4 months, very discouraging, so i went back to eating like i use to. I would like to lose at leats 25 lbs now.

I have been low carbing since sept 15th, scale shows 5 lbs down.
I wanted to learn the atkins way! Seems to work for so many people.
I look forward to meeting everyone, and will enjoy the posts

    Re: Hello!

Hello memesue. Welcome to perimenopause and the expanding middle. AT our age the creep comes in and it definitely comes off slower.LOL The good news is that Atkins and exercise will take it back off. If you don't yet have the 2002 DANDR book you should try to get a copy and read it. It will explain the hows and whys. It is important because this is a permanent life choice--nit a quick fix. If you look at this as a diet, that you eventually leave, you WILL regain the weight. But with only 20 pounds to lose, you could do Induction, move through the other stages of OWL (Ongoing Weight Loss) and learn to maintain properly so you won't have to lose that 20 (or more) again in three years.

We are all here to help. This site is full of supportive knowledgeable folks. Welcome aboard!

        Welcome to Atkins, memesue!

You will find that this way of life is the best there is and it's easy to maintain. And if you are commited to giving up the things that make you fat, it will become second nature to you. I have no trouble at all staying on the plan and you will get there too!

The stickies in the Induction area are a quick read if you don't want to plow through the entire book all at once. Carole will no doubt be by and give you the direct links.

            Re: Hello!

            Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and take a multi-vitamin. Since you haven't already, read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) - you are worth the time it takes to actually pick up the book and read it -- many people make mistakes because they don't take the time.

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out! Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - eat enough vegetables - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily.
Many of us use www.Fitday.com to track our food so we know what our carb totals are for the day. It's important you know what you are eating and how many carbs you are taking in each day.

Any and all questions can and will be answered - all you have to do is ask!! Good luck.
