  • just started today...

Hi! I just started induction today and need support to do this again after 2003 when Atkins really worked for me and I not only lost weight but started to feel better... now it seems so hard to give up all those carbs I love, but I have read the book and really believe this WOE is for me...I have tried it before many years ago when I lost about 60 lbs on it...the thing that really SCARES me is the way it all came back and some more... the sad story of my life! Oh well, have to do it, MUST do it...its a life and death situation for me now as I am soooo uncomfortable with my obesity, I am barely able to function and have stopped going out of the house and wallowing into self pity, crying myself to sleep every night...dont really know if this will work now, just need to get back on it...it just seems so hard to start... oh God please please help me...I gotta just DO IT!!!
ok so far so good... have had 2 eggs and cheese for brekkie, then 3 chicken burgers and stir fried lc veggies with mayo....and around 5 to 6 glasses of water so far...

Welcome ashminks. Just promise yourself it is only 2 weeks and you can get through it. Then you can move on to OWL. Take one day at a time. If you goof up keep on trying til you get it right. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Thanks Jill! I am thinking on the same lines, I do not think I could carry on doing induction more than 2 weeks...but who knows, I just feel so overwhelmed by so much weight to lose, but then I am not alone...thanks for your supportive words....

Hi and welcome back to Atkins --

Regardless of what you did before, or what people are doing now, your body is different (and older) than anyone so it’s best not to compare - just follow the plan the way it's written. Look around and find what interests you and join in. Check the STAC Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet for additional support.

I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Get enough pure water in daily (64oz is recommended), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin.

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out! Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily.

          Re: just started today...

Congratulations on the decision to get back on track.
Like many of us Atkineers, when you first start induction you can't wait for the 14 days to be over. You figure you can't continue that way an extra day.
However, with the recipes and challenges one can find the resources and motivation to continue. I completed induction 2 days ago and have moved on to extended induction. It gets easier. Believe in yourself, and keep your eyes on the prize.

              Re: just started today...

Extended Induction is not for everyone and many people lose even faster when they move to Rung One. The rungs give you variety and teach you about which foods your weight loss will tolerate as well as which foods will trigger you. They also provide temptations as you move up, but the lessons you learn are important. I generally move up to rung four or five and park because I can happily eat at those rungs for a long time.

                Re: just started today...

i think one of the most important things here is to not think of it all in numbers, but to work at it and dont let the numbers game get you down or even make you feel overwhelmed!

                You can do this!

Congrats on making the decision, and now get out there, stick with it... find what works for you and you can do this and before you know it, it will be you beating the numbers, not the other way around!
