    Hey everybody,

I've finally made the decision to change my life around and start atkins. I started putting on weight five years ago and consequently lost my job as a flight attendant as i was too fat for their liking. I actually auditioned for the biggest loser australia and surprisingly made it through to the final stages including the medical but was absolutely upset when they decided not to go with the 'stranger' couple ( they were considering it and thus were thinking of setting me up with another stranger). I then have put on 5 kgs since this as really have been eating myself silly.

Its time to take control of my life again. Im not the same person as i once was, due to my low self esteem due to my weight issue.

please wish me luck. ive never been able to stick to a diet before so i hope i can do this....for me.

I have found this forum to be truely inspirational! I have been reading people's stories and am amazed at the results...

    thanks guys and girls

    Re: New and worried

Welcome to the board! Congratulations on making the decision to change your life.

My whole life has been spent on too many (way too many!) diets - Weight Watchers, cabbage soup, grapefruit......always would up starving and gaining more back than I lost.

If you read the book and follow the plan, this truly becomes a way of life, not a diet.

    Good luck and post often.

    Suzanne

      Welcome to the Atkins Board.

There is nothing to be afraid of unless getting healthy makes you that way -- because that is what will happen when you are on this eating plan.

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and take a multi-vitamin. If you haven't already, read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR).

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out! Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - eat enough vegetables - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily.
Many of us use www.Fitday.com to track our food so we know what our carb totals are for the day. It's important you know what you are eating and how many carbs you are taking in each day.

Any and all questions can and will be answered - all you have to do is ask!! Good luck.
