  • new and having a panic attack

Woke up this morning and my fasting blood sugar was 196. If I don't get this under control I will have to on medications which I have found in the past cause me to gain weight.
Gave up all nicotine 6 months ago and have gained 25 pounds
I was unhappy with my weight at 184 and am now desperate.
I work full time and have a lot of food allergies that make dieting hard. Atkins is the only diet I've ever like but obviously I need to get very serious about it.

Within a few days your blood sugar levels should come down to a reasonable level...mine did. I've also taken my A1C from 10.3 to 5.0 so I can guarantee you if you follow the plan the way it's written you can get your numbers down also.

FBS down to 158 this am. I trying to be calm but found myself eating mints yesterday... forgot about the carbs. Threw them all away so that shouldn't happen again.

OK, lesson learned so now you are good. See? Already the FBS is improving. A couple of weeks and you should be in good shape. On that note, spread your veggies out through the day and it will keep the BS even more level. I toss some in my eggs in the a.m.

Asparagus and roasted pepper and onion are great in an omelet as is spinach. How are you feeling?

Re: new and having a panic attack

I have been spending every spare minute cooking low carb food believe it or not. I just quit checking my blood sugar, no point in looking at it because I know it will come down as my weight comes down. Use to do it as soon as I opened my eyes, now I go to the gym as soon as I open my eyes. Seems to be healthier. My husband has decided to go low carb too so I was able to throw away all bad food in the house and can now make us the same meals. I lost 13 pounds in three weeks, he lost 12 pounds in five days...

                  Congratulations to both of you!

Men typically lose weight faster... so don't compare your weight loss with his.
