  • Hello again

I've been lurking the forum the past three weeks or so, as I started induction on 9/23 and, except for an awful two day slip-up, have been trying to follow Atkins to the letter. I originally joined about a year and a half ago, where I had one great month on Atkins, but my crash diet mentality led me to gain the weight back pretty rapidly. So...here I go again. Doing really well so far, and hope to use the board to an optimum advantage, utilizing the great resources, receiving inspiration, and giving and getting support.

    Welcome!

Do you know what caused the "slip-up"? It's helpful, so that you can plan on how to avoid those in the future!

        Welcome back, Martha!

Be sure to check out the Second Time Around Club because checking in everyday helps to start you off on the right foot.

A lot of us here have found that the second time was the final time because we realized how foolish we were to quit the to begin with. Atkins is definitely the best way of life there is.

        Good luck to you!

            Re: Hello again

            Thanks for the welcome, guys.

atkinsgal - I know exactly what caused the slip-up. PMS. My first sign of PMS is a HUGE drop in mood and on that first day, it just gave me a "What's the point?" feeling, so I tried to self-medicate with McDonald's. It ended up making me feel awful and forced me to summon every ounce of will power I had to get back on the wagon two days later. And from the start of PMS to the beginning of TTOM, I battled extremely intense cravings. I am trying to figure out how to arm myself against this next month, but am not sure how. I've heard that evening springrose oil supplements make it easier - - does anyone have information on that?

I will definitely check out the second-timer's club. Thanks for the tip.

As you know, TOM is going to happen again! Yes, having a plan for next time is most important.

It's possible that the longer you have "clean" eating, your PMS may get less.

                Re: Hello again

Hi and welcome back to Atkins --

Regardless of what you did before, or what people are doing now it’s best not to compare - just follow the plan the way it's written. Look around and find what interests you and join in. Remember, Atkins is a lifetime eating plan, not a “quick fix diet”.

I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Get enough pure water in daily (64oz is recommended), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin.

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out! Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily.
