  • Hello from South Jersey

Just joining, but I've been on Atkins before in 1999 and lost 80 pounds in 6 months.

I started Atkins again on 8-27-09 at 296 lbs. I'm now down to 251.5 lbs. I've got another 40 lbs. to go, to get back to where I want to be.

If you wanted to know why my weight dropped so quick, I can't explain why the Atkins works so well for me at all, and I just don't move around much either. No exercise at all I mostly do what i want from day to day.

As to my health, well it rather bad. I retired at age 37, and found out 6 months later I had a seriously rare form of lung disease. There is almost no treatment other then high dose Steroids and Chemotherapy, both of which I continue to do now for 4 years. I was told it would be "Impossible" to drop the weight gain from the medications, well I showed them they're very wrong.

I'm looking for some new food concoctions to help me through all this, I'm getting real nervous that I'm going to skip out and feed the Steroid Hunger I'm suffering with.

Sounds like you have a lot to struggle with there.
Wonderful that the losing part is going so well. Cutting out carbs sometimes can do wonders.

Congrats on your weight loss in spite of your meds!!!

As for new foods, check out the food and recipe forum here on the board and also Linda's Low Carb website. Both offer plenty to choose from.

As for me, one of my favorite things is a pizza omelette. I saute cut up pepperoni and sometimes a little onion in oil, then add an egg, scramble it up and near the end sprinkle on some mozzarella cheese. It's quick and easy and I sometimes have it for supper. It's not just for breakfast, as is the case with a lot of Atkins foods.

Let us know how you make out!

Try out the Asian recipes in the food and cooking chat thread. There are some interesting flavor combinations there that would take you out of the humdrum every day mode.
